EAST GREENBUSH – Dolores M. “Lori” Miller, passed away September 16, 2022 at home. Dolores Marie Lopez Miller was born in 1933 on Long Island in Baldwin, NY. The first child of Anthony and Mercedes Lopez, she attended elementary school in Baldwin until 1949 and then moved to Nassau NY. Dolores graduated from Columbia High in East Greenbush. She then began working for the National Commercial Bank and Trust Company in Albany NY. There she met the love of her life, James J. Miller who also was starting his career. They were married on May 25, 1957 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nassau where they lived. In 1963, they moved to East Greenbush NY with their two sons where they resided for the remainder of their lives.

Dolores became involved with various activities that included her family. She was involved with the East Greenbush School District, Little League and Pop Warner. She was later active with the Columbia High School 5thQuarter Booster Club. She was also a regular parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in East Greenbush, NY

In 1971, Dolores found her true vocation, shopping and began working at Macy’s on Wolf Road in Colonie. She worked in the dress department for over 20 years, assisting customers with the purchase of dresses and was very sure to match the correct look for each person’s style and taste. During the Christmas season, she moved to the fur department and boosted sales due to her elegance and charm. She also enjoyed the many friendships she had with other employees throughout the years.

Dolores also had an active social schedule. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Cordial Greens Country Club and later Normanside Country Club. She was on the board of the Teresian House in Albany, NY. In her later years she would spend winters in her home in Orlando FL, enjoying the sun and warmth. She was also a world traveler, visiting all the sites with her friends. She also traveled the United States visiting the beauty of her home country. She loved to host affairs for her friends, including the annual Christmas event at her home in East Greenbush and the St. Patrick’s Day party in Orlando.

Dolores was predeceased by her husband James J. Miller and sister-in-law Loretta Lopez. She is survived by her sons James A. and Thomas A. (Kelly) Miller and granddaughter Sarah M. Miller. She also is survived by her siblings Anthony Lopez, Armand (Martha) Lopez and Anita Goodman (Robert Meade) along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Peters Hospital and the Hospice program for all their care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, September 23, from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24 at 9:00 am in the Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush. Interment will immediately follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rensselaer County Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
