Miller, Charles H. Jr.

ALBANY- Charles H. “Charlie” Miller Jr, a lifelong Albany resident, passed into eternal life on August 27, 2013 at the remarkable age of 93. Charlie graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and then Siena College, with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.

Upon his return home, Charlie embarked on his 20 year career as a Field Auditor with the A&P Tea Company. He furthered his career at both Normanside Country Club and Del Lanes as an accountant, retiring in the late 90’s.

He enjoyed time with his family including vacations and trips to Yankee Stadium. He loved exercising and amazingly he was a gym member at the age of 93! Charlie was also an avid golfer, spending most mornings on the golf course with his wife, Jean.

Charlie was the son of the late Charles H. Miller, Sr. and Anna (Walsdorf) Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jean (Boyle) Miller and predeceased by his cherished first wife of 37 years, Ruth (Mathews) Miller. He is also survived by his children, Barbara (Ray) Altrock, Charles H. Miller, III, Susan Miller and Kevin (Diane) Miller; stepchildren; Bob (Michele) Boyle, Brian (Lucia) Boyle and Judy (Mark) Werner; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Bill (the late Idola) Miller, Hank (Ann) Miller, Don (Joan) Miller and the late Joe Miller; and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Miller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the home health care aides and Hospice for the care and comfort extended to Charlie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11: 00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
