ALBANY- Gerald D. “Jerry” Miller, Jr., 80, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Newburgh, NY he graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1960 NY he was the son of the late Gerald D and Louise Pittz Miller, Sr.
Jerry worked as an Iron Worker in the NYC area for many years. He served in the US Navy from 1962-1965 part of the time aboard the USS Saratoga. He was past commander of the former Van DeeLoo-Miller American Legion Post #1022. Jerry enjoyed many years conversing with friends and foes at the Sheehy-Palmer VFW Post #6776 and is now having a drink with many of them.
Jerry is survived by his longtime companion of over 30 years, Gail Mogul; his cousins Judy Pittz Albert and Eugene Pittz.
He was known for his wit and humor evidenced by one of his last quotes “I’m an uncomplicated man who is going to die from complications.”
His family wishes to thank the Albany Medical staff especially B-2-ICU and the Red Team staff at the Albany VA Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, April 11, from 4-6 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 12, at 9:30 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. Interment will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex Street, Albany, NY 12206.
