Meany, John B. “Jack”

DELMAR-John B. “Jack” Meany, 90, died Saturday, August 4, 2018 after a brief illness.

Born in Albany he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Purcell) Meany. Mr. Meany was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute and of Siena College. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the NYS Health Department. He was a Communicant of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar, NY. Jack was a volunteer and past president of the board of the Friends of Five Rivers and also served as a volunteer at Community Caregivers.

Married in 1953 to Lillian A. (Paulus) Meany who predeceased him in 2011. Jack is survived by his daughters Eileen (Bruce) Lombardo of Delmar, Kathleen (Darwin Roosa) Meany of Altamont, Patricia (Gabriel) Deyo of Slingerlands and his son John (Linda) Meany of Selkirk; grandchildren; Jennifer, Emily, Patrick, Kerry, Allison and Colleen and great-granddaughter Sophia. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Griffin, Elizabeth Byron and his brother William Meany; Jack is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11 am in the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with the family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. on Wednesday morning prior to his Mass from 9-10:30 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
