ALBANY- Eileen M. McGuire McCann passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24,2023,at The Teresian House Albany, NY.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband Bill McCann. They married in 1960 and went onto to spend 63 memorable years together in laughter and love. Bill and Eileen were blessed with three sons, a daughter, and 9 grandchildren. She was born in Troy, NY in 1935 to Joseph and Margaret Mary Sulen McGuire. She and her brother were given guardianship by her Uncle Lester and Aunt Helen Bender, who later relocated to Utica, New York. She attended Proctor High school and played first chair as a flutist, in the Utica Symphony Orchestra. She worked at Utica National Bank and took great pride in her time there. Eileen also worked as a secretary for37 years at St. Johns and St. Mary’s on Oneida Lake within the Syracuse Diocese. She was a constant source of love and kindness to the myriad of parishioners and a beloved friend to all in the Sylvan Beach community.

Eileen’s love of life was boundless. Anyone could sense that within minutes of meeting her. She devoted her loving spirit to her faith, family, gourmet cooking and Irish culture. She had a special gift for raising spirits and making anyone smile and laugh when they needed it the most, always seeing the end of the rainbow through the darkest of clouds.

Eileen is survived by her four children, Gary McCann (Christine), Edward McCann, James McCann (Judith), Meghan McCann Oelkers (Keith). Nine grandchildren in which she developed deep connections with, along with her young heart and quick wit she could talk to them at their level. She is survived by her brother James McGuire and sister-in-law Rosita McGuire of Utica, NY. Also, her brother-in-Law James McCann of Loomis California. She held so many nieces and nephews dear and kept them in laughter and fun, close to her heart.

The family extends their appreciation to The Teresian House for all the dedication and devotion in caring for her. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, the October 5th, 2023,at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 416 Third St. Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend to Eileen’s life and legacy.
