Mccafferty, Donald E.

UMATILLA, FL- Donald E. McCafferty passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Bayview Center in Eustis, Florida.

Don was born in Troy, New York on April 16, 1933 and was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Horlacher) McCafferty. He graduated from Troy High School in 1951 and married Elizabeth Kositzka and they were married over 60 years. Together they traveled the country in their motorhomes which took them to all 48 states as well as a flight to Hawaii and a cruise to Alaska in their lifetime. In addition to their R-Ving, he enjoyed the camping lifestyle spending nearly 40 years at the same campground in the Adirondacks. Don also enjoyed tailgating at Penn State, Army, and Patriots football games with friends for many years and was an avid Yankees fan. He worked for the New York State Division for Youth for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Community, Eustis, Florida, the Eustis Elks Club, and the Twin Lakes Home Owners Association.

He is survived by nieces, Carol Thompson (Robert), Lori, Kathy and Dawn of Clifton Park, New York.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis, Florida on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, New York on Friday, July 1st Memorial donations may be made to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204.
