Matthews, Stephen J. Jr.

ALBANY- Stephen J. Matthews, Jr., 69, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at his family home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Stephen and Alice (Clear) Matthews, Sr. Steve was a graduate of VI and Russell Sage. He was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era. Steve worked for the NYS Department of Civil Service for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. He loved the NY Giants, the NY Yankees and Siena Basketball. He enjoyed growing tomatoes, his trips to Las Vegas and Maine with his family and losing at poker with the gang.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 42 years, Anne K. Matthews; children, Stephen J. Matthews, III, Meghan M. Matthews- Gondelman (Jason A. Gondelman), Michael J. Matthews; his grandchildren the joy of his life who affectionately called him
