Maryann Phillips

d. August 8, 2024

SLINGERLANDS - Maryann Phillips went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 8, 2024, passing in her sleep. She was married 67 years to her loving husband Richard who she met at a dance in College Point, NY. They shared many years of faithful marriage and her passing occurred on what would have been their 71st wedding anniversary. Shortly after getting married, Rich departed to serve in Korea for nearly 2 years. While Rich was stationed overseas, Maryann worked in Manhattan and throughout life retained her love for New York City.

She is survived by her 3 children, Richard (Sarah), Stephen (Hilary), Matthew (Saul), 9 grandchildren (Nathan, Elizabeth, Jameson, Lindsay, William, Mark and their spouses and Sydney, Samuel and Hope), as well as 16 great grandchildren.

The couple built a home in Voorheesville, NY where she and Rich raised their family. Maryann enjoyed spending winters in Naples, FL and in later years at their home on Lake George, NY. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids, who affectionately referred to her as "The Great." She adored her grandmother "Nanny" and carried on many of her traditions. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Delmar, NY for many years. In later years she returned to The Reformed Church where she had attended church growing up in College Point, NY. Maryann was vibrant and active her entire life. She loved reading, traveling, cooking, entertaining, golfing, skiing and bridge. Her Swiss heritage was evident in her cooking and frequent trips the couple took back to Switzerland, the home of her father's family. She volunteered with the Stephen's Ministry in Naples, FL and at St Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Born in College Point, NY on January 23, 1933, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard, her parents Ernest (Borter) and Mary (Stojan) as well as her siblings, Dolores, Ernest and Paul.

The family will have a funeral service to celebrate her life with family and friends on Wednesday August 14th at 10am at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave, Delmar, NY 12054, to be followed by a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, a gift may be made to Delmar Reformed Church. Arrangements by Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany. Condolences can be posted at danielkeenanfuneralhome.com.
