Margaret A. Mckinley

August 15, 1927 — July 17, 2024

CLIFTON PARK - Margaret A. McKinley (Gigante), aged 96, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, in Albany, NY. Born on August 15, 1927, to the late Frank and Giroloma Gigante, Margaret lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with her warmth, strength, and unwavering spirit.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Robert McKinley, along with her sisters Sef Hassett (Frank) and Mary Venezia (Charlie), and her brother Dominick Gigante (Isabel) and daughter in law, Anne McKinley.  She was a devoted mother to her three children: Michael McKinley (Colleen), Robert McKinley (Colleen), and Marianne Fuller (Alan). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Erin McKinley, Kathryn Johnson (Bob), and Kristen Schroeder (John), and her adored great-grandchildren: Stella, Declan, and Carson.

Margaret had a special bond with her nephew, Steven Hassett, and his wife, Colleen, who were like a son and daughter to her. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

After raising her children, Margaret dedicated 30 years of her professional life to the New York State government, where she worked diligently and made many lasting friendships. Upon retiring, she found immense joy in watching her family grow and making lasting memories with many close friends.  She always looked forward to her monthly dinner with her high school girlfriends to catch up and laugh.  She enjoyed sharing family recipes with family and friends alike, and having everyone gather around the table together.

She loved traveling, especially to watch her granddaughter play basketball, and cherished her visits to see family in Chicago and Michigan. Her adventures and dedication to family created countless treasured memories for all.

Margaret will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her unwavering strength, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Many thanks to the nurses and staff on the 5th floor of the Teresian House for the care that Margaret received while there as a resident.
