Mantica, Ruth A.

ALBANY- Ruth A.Mantica, 89, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

Born in Green Island, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Mitchell. Ruth graduated from Catholic High and worked for New York State Department of State retiring in 1995.

She was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth was predeceased by her husband James V. Mantica, Jr. and her brother John Mitchell and his wife Veronica. She is survived by her children Robert, Patricia and James Mantica (Johna); grandchildren Jamie Mantica, Caitlin Mantica (Nick Huff)), Taylor Mantica and Allie Mantica; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Known for her generosity and support, her life was dedicated to her family. Married for over 40 years to the love of her life Jimmy, retiring from NYS to dedicate her time to his care until his passing in 1997. Her proudest moments were the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She was a large part in the journey to their success.

She was a life long NY Yankee fan and never missed a game. She cherished her trips to the stadium with her family. She valued her 60 plus years of friendship with "the gang". A special thanks to Ronnie and Mary Sontz for their life long love and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Monday October 25, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday October 26, at 10 am in the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Academy of the Holy Names, Christian Brothers Academy or theAmerican Heart Association.
