DELMAR- Alice (Whelan) Maloy, 90, died Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Sadie (Vogel) Whelan and was a graduate of the former Cathedral Academy. Alice was a true Albanian and had a great love for her city. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. The family would like everyone to remember the words Alice tried to live by and reminded her children to do the same, “Be good to one another”. She was a Communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill and a member of the Mother’s Club at the former Our Lady of Angels School, the Democratic Women’s Club and the Center Square Association. Alice was an avid baseball and basketball enthusiast.
Wife of the late Thomas Patrick Maloy; mother of Jane M. (Gregg) Davis, Joseph A. Maloy, Mary Beth Maloy all of Albany and Judith A. (Jerry) Brehm of Woodland, CA; sister of the late Ann W. Ryan who was her twin, Joseph R. Whelan and Jane W. Cunningham; sister-in law of John (Rosemary) Maloy, Margaret E. Maloy, Mary E. Maloy and the late Joseph Ryan and Peter Cunningham; grandmother of Tim (Diane) Davis), Terry (Jonathan) Solomon, Tracy Davis, Nicholas (fiance Chrissy) Maloy, Tricia Kate Maloy, Joseph, Trevor and Conor Brehm; great- grandmother of Cole Thomas Solomon, Chase Joseph Solomon and Colin Patrick Davis. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her friend, Betty Voelk.
The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Health Care Center for the care and kindness extended to Alice during the last five years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 9:15 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday, November 28, 2011 from 4-7 pm. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in E. Greenbush.
