Luxama, Volonte

MELROSE-Volonte Luxama, 16, died Monday, October 24, 2011 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Volonte was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.

Volonte had an amazing journey that began in Haiti and ended in Albany, NY. Volonte's inner strength, will to live and love for his Savior and Redeemer was shown until his last waking breath. Volonte's last few waking words were in response to his strength, love and devotion to God. He uttered "ALWAYS.”

Volonte briefly attended HoosicValley School and loved the people he was able to befriend there. He loved to praise God and draw.Volonte may have been young in age but he far surpassed his years with his faith in Christ and life experience. In the face of bad news he would respond, "God knows." Volonte was a miracle to us all! He had a great presence about him, amazing courage, strength and discipline.

Volonte is survived by his mother, Victore Mariame; three sisters, Enouse Luxama, Tantase Luxama, Delatou Luxama; two brothers,Velony Luxama and Exanor Luxama all of Haiti. His local family consisted of Dr. Russell Newkirk, Raymond Essiembre; his host parents, Jude V. and Christy Jerome; their three sons, Raymond, Christian and Jude C. Jerome. .

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 5:00 pm at Victory Christian Church, 1312 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205. Immediately following please join us in the celebration of Volonte’s Life at Crossgates Restaurant and Banquet House , 215 Washington Avenue Ext. and Rapp Road , Albany, NY 12205.
