Luther, John S. “Jack”

MENANDS- John “Jack” S. Luther passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany on December 15, 1941 he graduated from Albany High School and Albany Business College.

Jack worked for many years in sales and later retired from NYS Dept. of Corrections.

He was a member of Wadsworth Lodge #417 F&AM, A.A.S.R. Valley of Albany, Cyprus Temple #5 A.A.O.N.M.S, Albany Court #77 Royal Order of Jesters, Fellowcraft Club of Guttenberg Lodge #737, Nite Owls, Inc., Albany Elks Lodge #49 BPOE, Polish American Citizens Club and Vigilant Lodge #669 I.O.O.F.

Beloved husband of Carole (McKay) Luther; cherished father of Laura Luther of Southbury, CT and Lisa Luther of Brooklyn, NY; very proud P-Pa to Heidi, Erick and Liesl; brother of Susan (Rick) Smith of Round Rock, TX; brother-in-law of Rose Ellen Luther, Barbara Barrell and David (Beverly) McKay; very special uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. His cousins Kenny, Diane, Betsy, Carl, Martha and Ellen also survive him. Jack's parents Philip and Lois Luther and his brother Philip Luther predecease him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jack’s family on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. His funeral service will be held Wednesday Oct. 4th at 10 am in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church 107 State St. Albany. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Those who wish may send memorial contributions in Jack’s name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104 or a charity of your choice.
