ALBANY- Maria (Gullo) LoPresti, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born in Scala di Patti, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosa (Ravida) Gullo. Mrs. LoPresti immigrated to the US along with her daughter in 1956 to join her husband Antonino in Albany. She was a talented seamstress and worked for many years at Town and Tweed and at Roxy Cleaners in Delmar as well as altering garments from her home.
She was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (former St. James Church) and Eucharistic Minister. Mrs. LoPresti was devoted to her family and looked forward to their traditional Sunday pasta dinners. She especially adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Antonino LoPresti. Survivors include her daughter Provvidenza “Anza” LoPresti Myers (Gary); grandchildren Gina Kwarta (Michael), Gary “TJ” Myers, Jr. (Jill), Angela Myers and Anthony Myers; her great-grandchildren Brianna Myers and Juliana Kwarta; her sisters in Italy, Antonina and Rosaria; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family Thursday, January 25, from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, at 9:15 am from the funeral home thence to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may send donations to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208
