Lofrumento, John M.

EAST GREENBUSH- John M. Lofrumento, 94, died October 16, 2012 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born and educated in Albany he was son of the late Pietro and Laura (Gravina) Lofrumento. He was an Army Veteran of WWII having served in the European Theatre with the 50th General Hospital. Mr. Lofrumento worked as meat department manager for over 35 years at the former Panetta’s Market retiring in 1990. In retirement he volunteered in the Orthopedic Clinic at the Stratton VA Medical Center Hospital for 15 years.

He was husband of the late Filomena “Fannie” (Napoli) Lofrumento; father of Peter K. (Marianne) Lofrumento of Rensselaer and Paul A. (Lina) Lofrumento of Marlborough, MA; He leaves his 96 year old sister, Vittoria Lofrumento, the only surviving sibling of 10 children; grandfather of John (Kerry) Lofrumento and Kristina, Michael and Brian Lofrumento; also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Anthony Lofrumento and Peter Gravin and his four sisters, Margaret (Angelo) Del Belso, Nancy (Joseph) Muraski, Rose (James) Robertson and Laura (Joseph) Izzo.

The family wants to thank the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home for their wonderful care and affection for John over the past three years and Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their guidance and support during the past few months. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 8:45 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. thence to Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 3-6 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY. Memorial contributions in the name of John M. Lofrumento may be made to the Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
