LOBDELL, WALTER J.

SELKIRK- Walter J. Lobdell, 85, died suddenly Monday, January 4, 2010.

Born in Saranac Lake, NY he was the son of the late James and Alice (Favreau) Lobdell.

Walter was a truck driver with Esso (Exxon) in Plattsburgh until 1966 when he transferred to the Albany Terminal. He retired in 1983. After his retirement he continued to drive for Cargil. Mr. Lobdell served with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific. Walter was very active in the Bethlehem Elks 2233, Sheehy Palmer VFW Post, Bethlehem Senior Citizens and the American Legion.

Husband of the late Katherine (DuVall) Lobdell; uncle of Cindy Trudeau,Terry (Gail) Besaw and Ken Besaw. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and dear friend Ted (Joanne) Wilson. Walter was pre-deceased by his siblings Ray Lobdell, Margaret Lindell and Grace Lobdell and by his grandniece Michelle Frankenberg.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 3-5pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the American Heart Association,. NE Region, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205-3890.
