Leonardo Velez

Leonardo Velez, 82, of Albany passed away on May 21, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born in Medellin Colombia on May 22, 1941, he is the son of the late Leonel and Eloisa Velez.

Survived by his son Leonel (Suzanne) Velez of Belchertown, Ma and his beloved grandchildren, Alexander, Dylan and Carly.

Leonardo was a graduate of St. Mary’s School for the deaf in Buffalo, NY. He was married to his wife of 41 years Elaine L. (Hubert) Velez. He worked for the SUNY Research Foundation as an Offset printer for over 25 years when he retired. He loved woodworking and watching sports. He was a loyal Yankees, Bills and Celtics fan along with college basketball. He was an active member of the deaf community in Albany.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 9 am to 10 am at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 am in the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar, NY 12054. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
