Leonard, Rose Ann

ALBANY - Rose Ann (Farina) Leonard, 85, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Evergreen Commons. In 1990 Mrs. Leonard retired from the NYS Assembly where she had been the executive secretary to the Honorable Richard Connors. She was a Communicant of Christ Our Light Church in Loudonville and a member of the Menands Chapter of AARP. Mrs. Leonard enjoyed doing crafts and was known for her excellent baking. Between 1949 and 1960 she was an executive secretary at the former Montgomery Ward Department Store in Menands. Prior to her employment with Wards, she worked part-time as a clerk for the former Sherry’s Department Store in Albany. Born in Glens Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Jessie (Palmeri) Farina and was a graduate of Albany High School Class of 1947.

Wife of the late Thomas F. Leonard who died in 1988; mother of Thomas M. (Kathy) Leonard of Nassau and Andrea Barrera of Colonie; grandmother of Kyle Leonard of Nassau and Maria and Gina Barrera of Colonie; sister of Andrew Farina of Hawley, PA, and the late Marie Farina Moccio. She is also survived by several nieces.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 at 9:00 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., thence to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at funeral home on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
