ALBANY- Maureen Margaret "Mickey" Lentz (Meakim) passed away on Tuesday, January 11th after a long illness at Van RensselaerManor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, NY at the age of 79. Maureen was born in Havertown, PA on February 28, 1942, she was the daughter of Philip V. Meakim and Kathyrn E. Kelly, sister to John J. Meakim (predeceased). Maureen attended Sacred Heart School and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in DrexillHill, Pa. and upon graduation worked for the Insurance Company for North America for 15 years in downtown Philadelphia. Ms. Lentz married Harry D. Lentz in 1970 and moved to Upstate New York in 1975; Maureen worked for Hewlett-Packard for over 22 years in Colonie, NY and then transferred with the company to their Burlington, MA location in 1991; she left Hewlett-Packard in 1997 and was recruited to work as front desk support within the Behavioral Neurology unit at Beth-Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston until 2016; a position she absolutely loved.
Maureen lived in Salem, MA where she loved taking the train daily into work to the Longwood Medical area. Maureen enjoyed shopping and getting her nails done
with her daughter in law, traveling, cooking for family, and a good pint of beer. Maureen was an avid Boston Red Sox and hockey fan and loved going to see the professional, college, and youth hockey games with her family. Maureen loved animals, specifically dogs, and could not resist petting every dog she came in contact with no matter where she was. Maureen was a kind person who was always willing to help anyone in need and was incredibly generous. Maureen is survived by her son Andrew D. (Phylle Lentz) Lentz of Albany, sister-in-law Gay Meakim of St. Louis, MO, and her grandson Jacob whom she loved very much. She is also survived by a niece, nephew and former husband Harry.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
To honor Maureen's love for animals, memorial contributions are appreciated to any organization that cares for homeless or abused animals.
