Lawler, Mary Linda Dc Sr.

MENANDS-Sister Mary Linda Lawler, DC, 79, died on February 4, 2023 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady. Sister was born in Syracuse, NY on July 17, 1943 and was one of 4 children of Dr. William Lawler and Gertrude (Holton) Lawler. She attended Cathedral High School in Syracuse where she met the Daughters of Charity and entered the Community on June 25, 1962. Sister Mary Linda had her initial formation in Emmitsburg, MD and received her degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg.

Sister Mary Linda taught in various Catholic schools including St. Dominic’s, Baltimore, MD, Cathedral Academy, Syracuse, St. Peter’s, Wilmington, DE, St. John’s, Albany, NY and St. Joseph’s, Holbrook, MA. She also did parish work in Immaculate Conception, Philadelphia.

She joined the Ministry of Prayer in 2019, a ministry she held until her death.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William and her sister Barbara Ann Lawler. She is survived by her sister, Joan Cappelletti, nieces and nephews and her Sisters in Community.

A Wake will be held from 4 - 7 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023 in DePaul Chapel., 96 Menand Rd. Menands, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at DePaul Chapel on Friday the 10that 10:30 am with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daughters of Charity, 4330 Olive St., St. Louis, MO 63108.
