Lacey, Catherine M.

DELMAR- Very early on December 24th, 2009, Cate was called from this life. Her departure was quick and peaceful, with her family by her side.

Born and raised in Lindenhurst, NY, Cate is the daughter of Irene Sheehan and the late Denis Sheehan. She came to the Albany region in the 1980s; shortly after her arrival, she met and fell in love with Mike. They married in January 1990, and raised a family in this area. Mike and Cate are the proud parents of: Alexander, Gillian, Emmett, Brogan and Fiona. Cate’s greatest joy was her children. She has been fortunate to have been able to stay at home to raise her children for the past 14 years. She has also helped to care for many other children.

Cate is also survived by her grandmother, Alexandra Brzostek; brothers Kevin (Julia Spicer) and Denis (Stephanie) Sheehan; sisters Ellen (Bob) Goldberg and Coleen (Dan) Cremo; sister-in-law Liz (Lindsey) Beaman; brothers-in-law Dennis (Dipty) Lacey and Charles (Yuka) Lacey; nieces Kayla, Patricia, Emma, Isabella, Rachel, Deanna, and Sumita; nephews Denis, Conor, and Garrett; and special niece Audrey. Her maternal grandfather, Alexander Brzostek, and her brother-in-law, Matthew Lacey, have predeceased her.

There are too many people to thank in print; however, to Nini Wu and Duncan Savage, you have proved that science, professionalism and compassion can be melded together to provide unbelievable care.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, December 28th, 2009 at 9 a.m. in Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill (corners of Pine and Lodge Streets). Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, those who wish should make contributions in Cate’s memory to a charity of their choice.
