GLENMONT - Kurt Finch Wideman, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 12, 2024. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Frank Vincent and Thelma (Finch) Wideman. He graduated from Phillip Schuyler and Concord Community College. He served in the US Air Force (1966-1970) as Staff Sergeant/Crew Chief on F-4 Phantom Aircraft with the 389th Tactical Fighter Squadron at DaNang AFB, Vietnam (1968-1969). Kurt began his career as a computer programmer, moving into sales and marketing management for many years before serving as a consultant on technology transfer. He worked for several high-tech companies from startups to Fortune 500, including Olivetti Corp, Prime Computer, Applied Robotics, AutoQuant Imaging, and International Electronic Machines Corp. He also consulted as an independent contractor for several federal agencies helping technology companies bring new products from R&D into commercial markets. In addition to his parents, Kurt was predeceased by his brother, Bruce F. Wideman.
He is survived by his beloved brother Frank (Patricia) Wideman (Stafford VA); cherished daughter Dana (Thomas) Balzer (Clarence Center NY); three adored grandchildren Mason, Finch, and Thomas; his dear nieces Mary Gasarowski (NJ), Stephanie (VA), Michelle (England); and his loving partner of 19 years, Carmela R. Daubney and her family Richard, Gina, Julia and Leah Garrison. He is also survived by other family and good friends. Kurt will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
His wishes were for his family and friends to remember him in their own way, so there are no funeral services.
