SELKIRK-Leona (Martin) Krzanowski, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.
Born and educated in Woonsocket, RI she was one of four children born to the late Honorius and O’Diana (Coderre) Martin. Leona “Lee” was born at home into a simpler time when hard work was just considered work and people interacted with one another in person. Growing up in RI one of her favorite memories was time spent on her aunt and uncle’s farm-the Martin Farm- in North Smithfield.
After her marriage in 1953, she and her husband Walter moved to Albany. Lee was a homemaker and also worked as a patient care technician at Albany Medical Center and St. Peter’s Hospital.
Lee was so many things to her family and many people but it’s her values and morals that made every one of those roles she played through her 97 years of life so impactful and meaningful. She was a giver, a nurturer, strong and proud, yet vulnerable and approachable. She was creative and loving. She could break you down so she could build you up stronger than you were. She was everything good in this world and she brought out the same in those around her. She was beautiful, inside and out. From the kindness in her eyes, to the warmth of her soul, she exuded an air of unconditional love: not just for what you were but for who you were. After 97 years of ups and downs, heartbreak and love, disappointment and triumph, you knew that she had been through it all. To have seen her smile is to understand what happiness really is. To have seen her cry is to know true pain. To have heard her laugh is to know joy. And to have felt her kiss or her embrace is to know the ultimate feeling go comfort and safety. Put simply: to have known her is to truly know love.
Lee was predeceased by her husband, Walter A. Krzanowski, Sr. and her daughter Janet Price. She is survived by her beloved children Marie Anne, Elaine and Catherine Krzanowski, Michelle Murray (Brian),, Jeannine Krzanowski, Margaret Fahrenkopf, and Walter A.
