Kelly, Thomas F.

Delmar – Thomas F. Kelly, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 26, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he is the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Franklin) Kelly.

Tom married the love of his life, Patricia Patterson Kelly on August 25, 1962 at Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill. He worked as a Senior Computer Operator for New York State Dept. of Social Services for more than 37 years until his retirement in 1990. Tom was an avid New York Yankees and Notre Dame fan, but what gave him the most joy in life was spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Kelly; his children, Colleen Kelly and Shawn (Elizabeth) Kelly; his beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie Kelly, Sara Kelly and Kyle McCann; and his special cousin, Mary (Harry) Sheever. He is also survived many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother, Joseph (Lillian) Kelly.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to Tom and his family throughout his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tom on Tuesday August 31st at 10:00 am at Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge St. Albany. Masks are required by all in attendance.Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday August 30th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at The Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.Those wishing to remember Tom in a special way can make memorial contributions in his name to Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge St. Albany 12207 or The Parkinson’s Foundation at Parkinson.org.
