Kelley, Melvin C.

SHELBURNE, VT – Melvin C. Kelley, 98, passed away surrounded by family on May 19th, 2021 in Burlington, Vermont. He was born on September 9, 1922 to George and Helen Kelley of Rochester, Pennsylvania. Mel is survived by his wife, Hope, his children Brian Kelley and Debora KillKelley, and his grandchildren Matthew KillKelley and Elyse KillKelley.

Mel was a World War II US Navy Veteran who was stationed on Guadalcanal. He was a retired art teacher and accomplished artist who received various awards for his watercolor paintings and sculptures. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed getting out in nature to paint the beauty of the world around him.

Mel was very fortunate to spend his final years at the Converse Home in Burlington, Vermont, where he enjoyed weekly outings with his family exploring the scenic Burlington area and playing checkers with his caregivers.

A private service will be held at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Delmar, NY.
