NISKAYUNA—John H. Reheuser—veteran, actor, history buff and railroad enthusiast--passed away at home on June 27, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born in St. Albans, NY to the late Walter and Honora Reheuser. He attended New Hyde Park Memorial High School and earned a BA from Empire College, as well as several associate degrees from SUNY Schenectady. From 1966-68, John served in the U.S. Army Military Police in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. His childhood fascination with costumes and characters was so exceptional that his mother called him “John Barrymore.” After retirement, John took a college course in acting that changed the course of his life. He soon became a beloved member of the local theater community, acting in many plays including, “The Importance of Being Ernest,” “To Kill a Mockingbird”,” “Judgment at Nuremberg” and “Twelve Angry Men”.
John is survived by sisters Margaret (John) McGullam of Oakdale, NY and Jeannette Reheuser of Albany, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Walter (Yoshiko) and Tom Reheuser, and his sister, Virginia (Adelbert) Amann.
