Joan M. Lithgow Miller

SLINGERLANDS - Joan M. Lithgow Miller, 90, of Slingerlands passed away peacefully on Saturday November 25, 2023 with her family by her side.
Born in Albany, she was the oldest daughter of the late Thomas J. and Julia (Farrell) Lithgow.
Joan was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute and continued her education with courses at SUNY Albany, as well as painting courses and her Great Books Club. She worked at AT&T, proudly held secretarial positions for many of our New York State Assembly Members and retired from New York Civil Service where she supported a department of 14 supervisors.
After retiring, she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was an artist and painter for most of her life. She had a competitive, fun spirit and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She loved traveling throughout her life, and later in life enjoyed trips to France, Charleston, Savannah, Myrtle Beach, New York City, and Raleigh.
Joan is the mother of Donald (Debora) Miller, Jr., Thomas (Linda) Miller, Sr., Joan (George) Bell, Margaret Miller, Elizabeth (James Guthier) Miller Guthier, Juliane Miller (Darryl Pearce); grandmother of Tommie, Jr. Jessica (Ryan), Timmy, Joshua (Katie), Christopher and Rachel (Frank). She is Aunt Joan to Patricia Keefe (Ted Hidde), Colleen Jensen (Lanny) and Brian Fiset. Joan is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sisters Margaret Fiset and Julia Sheila Keefe, and the father of her children, Donald J. Miller, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 4, 2023 at 9:30 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church 391 Delaware Ave. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Joan’s family on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2-4 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
