INGEMIE, MARIA RITA
ALBANY- Maria Rita (Celona) Ingemie, 94 died Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Teresian House.
Born in Fitchburg, Mass, she was the daughter of the late John and Antonina (Femino) Celona. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and worked at Leominster Plastics prior to her marriage to Joseph C. Ingemie, Sr. on September 4th, 1939. Her husband Joseph died on June 5, 2004.
After moving to Albany Maria worked as a seamstress making slipcovers for a private contractor, then John G. Myer’s Department Store in Women’s Apparel and later as a secretary for Albany Medical College Department of Ophthalmology, where she retired. She was a communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Church and a member of the Italian American Community Center in Albany.
Beloved mother of Rev. Dominic Ingemie, pastor of St. Peter’s in Saratoga Springs, Vera (Otis) Hall of Albany, John (Judie) Ingemie of Clifton Park, Joseph (Kris) Ingemie of Albany, James (Debra) Ingemie of Exton, PA, Nina Sanacore of Kinderhook and the late Michael Ingemie; grandmother of William and Anna Hall, Lee (Kerilynn) and Leslie Horton, Jessica (Jeff) Ginter, Elizabeth, Mark, Christopher (Tracey), Jeffrey, Jason and Jennifer Ingemie and Teresa and Michael Sanacore; great-grandmother of Andrew and Christian Horton and Alec Ingemie; sister-in-law of Josephine DeMarco of Glenmont and Samuel (Sophie) Ingemie of Columbia SC; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Maria was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Joseph C. Ingemie, Sr.; brothers Peter and Nunzio Celona and sisters, Mattia Bombacci, Stefana Conant, Nina Giacoppe and Jenny Iannacone.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Teresian House for the care and comfort extended to their mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul, 900 Madison Ave., Albany, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul on Thursday, 4:00 – 7:00PM. Entombment will follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
