ALBANY- Walter K. Igler, 93, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Schonstadt, Germany he was the son of the late Christian and Louise (Forkel) Igler. He moved with his family to the United States as a child and graduated from the former Roessleville High School in Colonie.
Mr. Igler worked as a pattern maker for over 40 years with the Watervliet Iron and Brass Foundry. He excelled at carpentry and woodworking.
Mr. Igler was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Betty (Smith) Igler, his sister Friedegard Kiesewetter Otty Stanchuk and his brother Helmuth K. Igler. He is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Anthony) Mantica of Colonie and Susan (Robert) Lachut of Glenville; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
