Hriczko, Sister Mary Caroline D.C.

MENANDS-Sister Mary Caroline Hriczko, D.C. diedon November 9, 2017. Sister was 85 years of age and 63 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity.

Born in Buffalo, NY on December 22, 1931, Sister Mary Caroline was one of 7 children born to Karolina (Chanda) and John Hriczko.Sister Mary Caroline joined the Community of Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul on September 8, 1953.

Sister Mary Caroline graduated from East High School, Buffalo, NY in 1948 and then went on to graduate from Sisters Hospital School of Nursing, Buffalo, NY in 1952 before entering the Daughters of Charity.She earned her BS in Nursing Degree from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, MD in 1958 and her MSN-CHN Specialty in Gerontology at Boston University, MA in 1976.

Early in her ministry, Sister Mary Caroline served at Seton Psychiatric Ins., Baltimore, MD.Sister Mary Caroline then served at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C.; Seton Hospital, Waterville, ME; Laboure Center, Boston, MA; St. John of God Hospital, Brighton, MA; Nazareth Child Care, Boston, MA; Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY; Sisters Hospital, Buffalo, NY; a second time at St. John of God Hospital, Brighton, MA; and a second time at Sisters Hospital, Buffalo, NY.

In January 2003, Sister joined the Ministry of Prayer at St. Louise House and served there until the time of her death.

Sister Mary Caroline is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her Sisters in Community.Sister Mary Caroline was predeceased by her three sisters Julia, Anna and Mary and her three brothers Joseph, John, Jr. and Steve.

A Wake Service for Sister Mary Caroline will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at DePaul Provincial House Chapel in Menands. A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Mary Caroline will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at DePaul Provincial House Chapel, 96 Menand Rs., Menands. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
