Harbeck, Ruth T.

DELMAR- In her 104th year, Ruth T. (Schreck) Harbeck, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was at her residence, the place that was “home” since 1941, surrounded by family.

Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Marjorie (McElveney) Schreck. She was employed by several companies including Postal Telegraph, Woolworths and Winthrop Sterling. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce and was employed by Legislative Index Company for 30 years. Mrs. Harbeck was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard E. Harbeck, Sr. and her sister Violet Smith. She is survived by her sons, Howard E. (Cheryl) Harbeck, Jr. and Dr. Kerry L. Harbeck (Barbara Pedone); grandsons, Michael, Garrett and Jason Harbeck; great grandchildren, Stephen, Holly, Logan, Angela, Chase, Jayden and Gavin; her nieces and nephews, Raymond Harbeck, Lois Miller, Robert Smith and Al Harbeck and additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3rd in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the Church from 9 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her care givers, Linda Lostritto and Valerie Eggleston as well as the staff of Community Hospice for the excellent care and comfort extended to Ruth.
