ALBANY – Eugene L. “Gene” Guidetti, 78, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Brighton Gardens in Winston–Salem N.C. Born in Albany, Gene was the son of the late Louis and Bessie (Bonanno) Guidetti. He graduated high school from Vincentian Institute, Albany, NY and Russell Sage Junior College of Albany. Eugene was the proprietor of the G & G Tavern and multifamily residential properties. He was a Communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi.
Father of Kim (Guidetti) Kearney of Winston Salem, NC, Greg Guidetti of Albany, Gene Guidetti of Albany and Cynthia Ashley of Niskayuna; brother of Dr. Richard and Cathy Guidetti of Winston-Salem, NC, grandfather of Taylor and Brendan Kearney, Mari, Lani, and Angelina Guidetti, and Kailyn (Ashley) Vecchio, Tyler Ashley and Kyle Pick; beloved life-long friend of Sandra (Guidetti) Driscoll. In addition, Eugene is survived by a niece, Maria (Guidetti) Olson, and 2 nephews, Louis and Richard Guidetti, and several cousins.
Gene was loved by many and had many close friends. His outgoing personality, coupled with his love for food, friends, sports and fun allowed him to touch the hearts of many. His joyous laugh, wit and smile will be deeply missed by those that had the pleasure to know him. His sparkling smile remained with him until the end and his spirit will shine bright in Heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gene’s family Thursday, January 4th from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5th 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home thence to The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow the Mass in the family mausoleum at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
