Gorton, M. Florence

ALBANY- Mary Florence “Flo” Gorton, devoted mother and beloved daughter, sister and friend died peacefully on September 14, 2022. She was born in 1943 to Florence and Gordon Sewell and never lived further than an hour away. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1961 and enjoyed being secretary of the reunion committee for many years, cementing old friendships and making new ones. She graduated from Mildred Elly Secretarial School and was a valued employee for several companies, ending her career with the United Steelworkers.

Flo had the most amazing sense of humor and a kind spirit that endeared her to all who knew her. She took life as it came, enjoyed simple pleasures, worked hard and warmed our hearts.

Flo is survived by her son Robert Gorton; her sister Terry Sewell Winfield, her niece Sarah (Graeme) Asher and nephew Kirby (Alison) Winfield, and her beloved cousins Laura Sewell and Cathy McMahon; as well as friends too many to mention but so important in her life!

Funeral services were held privately.
