Godfrey, Arthur J.

ALBANY - Arthur J. Godfrey, 75, entered into eternal rest after an 11 year courageous battle with Respiratory Disease on Wednesday April 29, 2020.

Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Jane (Rice) Godfrey. Art was a graduate of Albany Academy and attended Norwich University in Vermont. He then graduated from SUNY Albany in 1967.

He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

Art worked in the security field at Burns, Allied, Wackenhut and G4S. His first love was his home and family as well as gardening and woodworking.

Art was the beloved husband of 30 years to Christina (Dumas) Godfrey; step-father of William F. Bacon & Joseph J. Bacon; grandfather of Lillian and Benjamin; uncle of Jaclyn Kuffel “his favorite niece” and brother of Ardythe Hecht of Houston, Texas and the late Shirley Teator.

Due to the current health restrictions regarding the coronavirus, funeral services will be held privately.

Inurnment will take place at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands
