Glenning, Patricia “Nadine”

ALBANY-Patricia “Nadine” (Shay) Glenning, 92, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017.

Known as “Deanie” to family and close friends she was born in Adams, MA and a graduate of Catholic High in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Norbert and Ethel (Mooney) Shay.

Nadine was a homemaker. She was a lifelong communicant of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church and currently a communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi, the parish formed through the merger of St. Teresa’s and the former St. Catherine of Siena Church in 2009.

In addition to her parents, Nadine was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Glenning, Sr. in 1995 and her siblings, Norbert Shay, Paul Shay, Noma Clapp and Sheila Barrett. She is survived by five sons, John J. (Laurie) of Lewisburg, WV, Robert L., Jr. (Elizabeth) of Ridgewood, NJ. Daniel M. (Jo) of Middletown, RI., James A. (Doreen) of Andover, MA. and Stephen P. (Catherine) of Rochester, NY; two daughters, Nadine A. Glenning (Mike Ali) of Glens Falls and Sheila M. Glenning of Albany; a brother, Joseph (Carolyn) Shay of Lake George; thirteen grandchildren, Brian Winter, Josephine Winter, Kathryn Winter, Madeleine Winter, Ethan, Lily, Daniel, Jordan, MaryKate, Olivia, Meredith, Robert and Anne Glenning; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank home health aide, Eunice Aboki, for her many years of lovingly caring for their mother. In addition we would also like to thank the Teresian House for the wonderful care they provided mom during her stay there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. There will be no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nadine’s name may be made to the Newport County YMCA Special Olympics Team, 792 Valley Rd., Middleton, RI 02842.
