ALBANY- Mary M. (Kelly) Glenning, 92, died Monday August 12, 2013 at home. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Matthew E. and Anna (Ryan) Kelly. She graduated from St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer in 1940 and St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was a Veteran of WWII serving as 1st Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps. She was stationed at Halloran General Hospital on Staten Island, the 114th General Hospital in England and Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. Mrs. Glenning was employed by St. Peter’s Hospital as an E.R. Nurse for 17 years, during that time she had fond memories of working with the Sisters of Mercy and the friends and co-workers she met along the way. She was a member of St. Peter’s School of Nursing Alumni and the American Legion Ft. Orange Post #30. She was also a charter member of W.I.M.S.A. and was enrolled in the computerized registry in the Women’s Memorial at the Gates of Arlington Cemetery. She was the wife of 52 years of William J. Glenning, who died in 1999; together they raised 7 children; Margaret M. Glenning of Oak Park, CA,, William J.Glenning, Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, daughter-in-law Carol of Boynton Beach, FL, Kenan Glenning of Albany, Elizabeth A. McManus (Brian) of Northboro, MA. Robert L. Glenning, of Albany, Mary Ellen Broderick (Patrick) of Guilderland and Edward Glenning (Karen) of Guilderland; sister of the late Matthew Kelly, Elizabeth Scafidi and Ann McNellis. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 8:45 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., thence to The Parish of Mater Christi, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 4-8 pm. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
