E. GREENBUSH- Joseph Anthony Gizzi, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at home after a brief illness to meet with his beloved wife Helen “Sam”.
Joe was born in Albany on Nov. 25, 1928 to the late Jennie and Carmine Gizzi. He was brother to Carmine (Jean), Michael, Vincent (Kathy), Peter (Fran), Robert (Donna) Gizzi and Rose Marie June. He was predeceased by siblings Cecelia Manning, Paul Gizzi and Anne Fitzgerald; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
After retiring from Red Star Express, he was sole proprietor of Rensselaer Trains in East Greenbush for over 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Heights. He also enjoyed fishing and bingo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 2, 2011 at 9:30 am in St. Mary’s Church at Clinton Heights, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 3-7 pm. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Albany Memorial Hospital and the nurses and aides from Rensselaer County Hospice for all the care given to Joe. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Memory of Joseph Gizzi to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd,, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
