ALBANY- George Richard Gibson, 82, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Rigaud) Gibson. To family and old friends he was Rich but to others he was known as George. George was the Vice President at Home and City Savings Bank until he retired. He also was a bartender at Sam’s Italian Restaurant. For many years he was involved with Albany‘s South End Irish especially the St. Patrick Day Parade and in 2018 he served as the Grand Marshall. George loved to travel and visit his cousins the Quinn’s in Ireland.
George “Rich” leaves his brother Joseph (Janet) Gibson, sister, Nancy (Edward) Sponable; his nieces Julie (Chris) Andrano, Joanna (Dave) Smith, and Nicole Wise; his nephews Christopher Sponable, Craig Sponable, and Jason (Jill) Sponable; his grandnieces Emily Andriano, Alison Andriano, Katelyn Smith, Delaney Smith, Arianna and Chloe Wise, and Taquisha (Patrick) Panza and the late Victoria Wise; Quinn Sponable; his grand-nephew Colin Smith and great-grand niece and nephews Naomi Panza, Slade Toro and Nate Wise-Ross. Also survived by many cousins and close friends.
Relatives and friends are also invited to visit with his family on Friday, March 31, from 9:30-11:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home. Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. prior to his funeral service at 11:45 am. Interment will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
