WATERFORD- James R. Gibson, Sr., 54, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late James W. and Vivian (Davis) Gibson. James enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and loved to cook what he caught or grew. He was known for his special barbeque rubs and marinades and would always prepare a meal for everyone who was hungry. He was known to drink a cold beer and play some favorite music while entertaining friends.
Survivors include his children Centrial Grimes, James R. Jr. and Amber Marie Gibson; his wife, Anne Gibson; his companion of many years Sherry Stafford; his sisters Valerie Gibson and Mary Lou (Michael) Bowman, his brothers Robert (Colleen) Gibson, Alex, Lamont and David Gibson; grandchildren; Destany Apjohn, James Roosevelt Gibson III, and one on the way. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Saratoga County Hospice for their care and support and for always being there during Jim's illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 am to 12 noon. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady.
