Gammel, Arthur H.

GLENMONT- Arthur H. Gammel, 94 died Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center.

Born and educated in Albany he was the son of the late Addison and Edna (Wandersee) Gammel.

Art worked for Westinghouse Electric Supply for many years as a salesman and branch manager. In the early 1970’s he purchased Thorpe Electric Supply in Rensselaer until his retirement.

He was a US Army veteran of WWII having served in the European Theatre. Arthur was a member of the Gerald O’Neil American Legion Post # 1683 and the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.

Husband of Helen (Ziman) Gammel; father of Thomas J. (Michele) Gammel of Averill Park and the late John Arthur Gammel; brother of the late Beatrice Gammel; grandfather of Michael A., Sean T., and Amie N. Gammel.

His funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11 am in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church 57 Hurlburt St. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours prior to the church services. Interment will be in Holy Spirit Lutheran Cemetery in Glenmont. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church 57 Hurlburt St. Albany, NY 12209.
