Frances V. Johns

GLENMONT – Frances V. Johns, 96, died Thursday, September 26th 2024 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Pauline (Sieliecki) Goitz. She was a graduate of the former St. John’s Academy in Albany. Mrs. Johns worked for over 40 years in the trucking industry as an administrative assistant with the majority of that time spent at TNT Red Star in Glenmont.

She was a devout Catholic and a longtime communicant and supporter of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Mrs. Johns enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and photography. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved time spent with her family and friends. She will always be admired for her compassion, kindness, and empathy and will always be remembered for her phrase “Say a prayer for me and I’ll say one for you.”

Wife of the late James H. Johns, beloved mother of Debra Bleezarde, Michele (Kevin) Grady, Donna Johns, and James D. Johns, grandmother of Lauren (Matt) Bleezarde, Shawn, Christine, Melissa (Ben) McKay, Shannon and Elizabeth Grady, great-grandmother of Hannah and Emily McKay, sister of the late Anna Rimmer, Mary Sidoti, Michael Goitz, Veronica Goitz, Louis Goitz, Genevieve Goitz, Helen Piazza, and Edward Goitz, and mother-in-law of the late Richard Bleezarde. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joanne VanWoert and her staff, Dr. Jeffrey Uzzilia and Colleen O’Keeffe, NP for their excellent care of our mother. In addition, we want to thank St. Peter’s Hospital 4 McAuley Staff and Hospice Inn for their compassionate care during mom’s final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 3, 2024 at 10 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church 40 Adams Place Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with Frances’ family on Wednesday October 2, 2024 from 3-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Interment will  be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
