DELMAR – Jane E. Tangora Fox, 83, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Born and educated in Albany, she was the loving wife of Thomas H. Fox and daughter of the late Philip and Lena Tangora. She worked side-by-side with her husband Tom in the real estate industry for many years. Mrs. Fox also owned Jane’s Variety on Second Avenue for over 32 years and was affectionately known as “Miss Jane”.
Jane was a remarkable woman who partnered tirelessly with her husband and children in establishing and running a highly successful business, while never losing site of the paramount importance of family, decency and compassion for others.
She was a long-time communicant of the former St. John’s-St. Ann’s Church and was grateful to have furniture made from the church pews that her husband had lovingly transformed into their dining table.
She will be remembered for her famous quotes “It’s nicer to be nice.”’ and “Where are you, what are you doing?”
In addition to her childhood sweetheart and devoted husband of 63 years, Thomas; she is survived by her children Thomas (Barbara), Joseph (Michele), Jane (Joseph Conway) and Timothy (Chantal); her grandchildren Henry, Alex, Sydney, Victor, Spencer, Shelby and Austin; many nieces and nephews and her beloved friend Joan Staples and cherished cousin, Gloria Corazzini. She was predeceased by her brothers Angelo and John Tangora.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
