ALBANY- Laura Elizabeth (Tartaglia) Fitzpatrick, 96, entered Eternal life surrounded by her family, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Teresian House. A lifelong resident of Albany, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Victoria (Spinosa) Tartaglia. Mrs. Fitzpatrick graduated from the former Cathedral Academy, retired from Sterling-Winthrop, Inc., in 1983 after more than 20 years of service, and previously worked as a secretary for GAF Corporation. Laura was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James). A homebody, devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Laura cherished her family and enjoyed visits and phone calls from her children, brother, Paul, grandchildren, and all other family members.
Her husband and high school sweetheart, Joseph B. Fitzpatrick, Sr., predeceased Laura. She also was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Marie Therese’ Rose Wilkes and her siblings, Kathryn Flanagan, Anthony Tartaglia, Elizabeth Tarasovich, and Thomas Tartaglia, Sr. Survivors include her brother, the Reverend Paul Tartaglia, and her children, Joseph B. (Catherine) Fitzpatrick of Schenectady, Karen (John) DeRouville of Albany, and Laura F. (Mark) VanValkenburg of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Fitzpatrick also is survived by her grandchildren Linda Gorka, Joseph J. Fitzpatrick, Cory Fitzpatrick, Mary Therese’ Wilkes, Robert C. Forezzi, Jr., John J. DeRouville, Paul J. DeRouville, Daniel A. DeRouville, Rene’ A. Kurick, and Laura T. Puzio; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family Wednesday, January 24, from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Her funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25 at 9:15 am from the funeral home thence St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
