Finan, William J.

ALBANY- William J. Finan, 55, entered into eternal life on November 27, 2021. Raised in Bay Shore, NY Bill was the adored son of John F.X and Stella Finan. He is the cherished brother of Catherine (Michael) Fredette, Gerard (Christine) Finan, Jane (Victor) Arena, his “Irish twin” Sean (Janine) Finan with whom he shared a special bond, and the late Chip and Chris Finan; and sisters-in-law Debbie and Bonita. Bill was a special uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

A lover of Sesame Street, Cookie Monster, chocolate ice cream, the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills, Bill’s happiest days were those that he spent with his family, bowling, going to dances, listening to music and spending time with his friends Sean, JP, Rodger and the other guys at Madison House and Mariette Place.

Bill was a bright light over the years to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, the simple joy he got from ordinary days and the happiness he brought to his brothers and sisters whose lives were enriched beyond measure by having a special brother.

We are forever grateful for the care and kindness shown to Bill by all his caregivers and providers at WWARC. A special thank you to Danielle, John Riley, Tom, Ann, Gabby and especially the exceptional staff at Mariette Place whose patience and love were so freely given and vital to our Bill during his final years. Thank you, also to the extraordinary nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital 3 McAuley who took care of Bill in his final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill’s family on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 9:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Central Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be made to Special Olympics New York, 94 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12203.
