Fedele, Nancy A.

d. June 17, 2013

NISKAYUNA - Nancy Adalian Fedele, 59, of Albany passed into the loving arms of the Lord surrounded by her adoring family and friends on June 17th at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn after her second battle with cancer.

Nancy was born to the late Vera Armatage Adalian and Charles Adalian; the middle child of five siblings. Nancy was blessed with a beautiful daughter and devoted her life to ensuring she was the very best mother and provider. Nancy was incredibly proud of the woman her daughter became. She had numerous nieces and nephews and treated each of them as if they were her own. Family meant everything to Nancy and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time surrounded by her family.

Nancy was innately drawn and devoted to helping those who needed it most and are often neglected; the elderly. She began her lifelong service to seniors in the home health care industry where she quickly rose through the ranks eventually leading her to the senior housing industry. Due to her experience as the Administrator of Wellspring House of Albany, her commitment to customer satisfaction and providing a positive experience to those entrusted to her care, Nancy helped form the advocacy group for seniors known as the Capital District Senior Issues Forum. Nancy was a committed member & president of the Rotary Club of Colonie Guilderland. In August 1997 Nancy joined Kingsway Community as the Administrator of the independent living divisions, comprised of Kingsway Village, Parkland Gardens and the Court Apartments. During her time there, she was loved by the residents and respected by the staff.

Nancy was an active member of the Capital District Senior Issues Forum for many years and her efforts resulted in a bill being enacted in 1999 to protect seniors from high pressure sales tactics used by larger housing corporations. Nancy received special recognition by the Forum as a founding member 2004 and received a Lifetime Achievement Recognition from the Forum in 2008 as a result of her tireless efforts and commitment to the adherence to high ethical standards in the senior housing industry.

Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend to many. She was selfless and devoted to those she came in contact with and in turn was cherished by those same people. Nancy had a passion for cooking, baking, gardening, photography and took great pleasure collecting salt & pepper shakers, of which she had hundreds.

Nancy is survived by her loving daughter Kimber-Lee LaVenture, son-in-law David, grandchildren Rhiannon Rose and Alexander David; she is sister to Susan (Paul) Niquette, Charles (Melanie) Adalian, Gary (Noelle) Adalian, and Diane (John) Houle. Nancy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, the Fedele family, the McGuire family and countless friends.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Nini Wu and the staff of St. Peters Hospice Inn for the love and attention they showed Nancy. She was truly a remarkable lady who endured more than anyone should and never once complained.
