DELMAR - Edward A. Gilligan, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 3, 2025. He was born in Albany on October 31, 1938 to the late Edward F. and Elizabeth Giroux Gilligan. During high school, he began his career at the NY Telephone Company. After graduating from the Cathedral Academy, he went to work full time and attended night classes at Siena College. He married his high school sweetheart Judy Reinisch on October 11, 1958. He retired as a Division Manager after 43 years, and then became the Chairman of the Board at CAPCOM until three years ago. He was a member of the Normanside Country Club, and he enjoyed spending his summers at his residence at Lake Champlain. He was an active volunteer at the Cathedral Church after his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Gilligan, his brother, John Gilligan and his sister, Susan Plante.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Gilligan; his children, Edward J. Gilligan, Suzanne Grassucci, and Christine St. John; his grandchildren, Daniel Gilligan, Liam St. John, and Keira St. John; his siblings, Sister John Joseph, James Gilligan, Elizabeth Gilligan, and Regina Gilligan Baptista; and many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday April 8th from 11am to 12pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St., Albany, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. He will then be interred in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Arrangements by Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Albany.
