She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Joseph Platel, Joan Klingbeil and William Platel as well as her first husband John Quatraro (1975) and second husband George Stagnitta (2013).  She was a graduate of Columbia High School,  SUNY Fredonia, and University at Albany.

She dedicated her career to teaching. She held various roles in her educational journey. She was an elementary and middle school teacher in the Bethlehem Central School District before spending her last several years working for BOCES as a special education teacher. She had a wonderful way with children and always made them feel special and welcome in her classroom. She retired after teaching for 32 years in 1995. As a parent, she was the model of consistency. Always a supportive mom and wife, always an understanding ear, a diligent worker, incredibly steady and level headed all while being fiercely independent.  In her free time, she enjoyed reading, painting and watching baseball. She and her late husband George were avid travelers, exploring destinations from Alaska to Fiji, with numerous destinations in between.  They loved each other’s company and that of the family above all. She adored her grandchildren and loved hearing about their accomplishments and spending time with them whenever possible. Her grandchildren will cherish the original hand painted ornaments she created for each of them every Christmas. She has always been a loyal friend. To this day she maintained a strong bond with many colleagues from her teaching days. She also has cherished relationships developed through baseball connections as well as friends she made later in life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to have known her.
