SARASOTA, FL - Pauline E. (Zautner) Donovan, 106, died Thursday, July 11, 2013. Born in November of 1906 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Anna (Sanger) Zautner. Pauline was predeceased by her sister, Edna, and her husband John Donovan, whom she was married to for over 50 years.

During WWII, Pauline volunteered over 1,500 hours manning the plotting tables for the 1st Fighter Command of the Army, which was stationed in Albany, tracking spy planes along the Atlantic coastline.

Pauline’s hobbies through the years included bowling in leagues. She was a member of the New York State Women’s Bowling Association and was captain of her Albany City Bowling team, winning several championships.

Pauline and her husband John moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1965, where she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She sang for many years in the choir. Since 2000, Pauline was a resident at Ashton Place ALF in Sarasota, where she enjoyed a variety of activities and socializing with her many friends.

Pauline is survived by her dear friends, the Henry Beukers family of Coconut Creek, Florida and numerous relatives, including Mary Smart of Albany.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont Road in Glenmont. (opposite the Selkirk Fire House) All are welcome to attend.
