Donohue, Patricia A.

GUILDERLAND - Patricia Ann (Toolan) Donohue passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2019 surrounded by loving family members.Her passing marked the conclusion of a rich life, highlighted by her deep faith and love for family.

Patricia, known as Pat or Patsy, was born in Albany, NY to her Irish immigrant parents Winifred Comer Toolan and Martin Toolan. She is pre-deceased by her siblings Anna, Mary (Mullen), Joan (Forster), and James, and is survived by her sister Sally (Bradley) of Troy.

She was a 1953 graduate of the Vincentian Institute. Following high school, Pat enrolled in the St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned a degree in nursing.Upon graduation, Pat became engaged to her high school sweetheart, Joseph J. Donohue. She and Joe married in 1958, and embarked on what was to be a joyous, 60-year marriage. Pat and Joe celebrated that milestone anniversary in June 2018, surrounded by family.

Pat’s legacy is the strong family she nurtured and inspired. In addition to husband Joe, Pat is survived by her seven children:Colleen, Kelly Hanratty (Terry), Christine Finkelstein (David), Joseph Jr., Karen Wiedenhoft (Robert), Mary Anne LaMontagne (John), and Kerry (William Ziegler). In addition, she is survived by ten grandchildren:Kyra Donohue, Conor and Erin Hanratty, David Andrew and Jillian Finkelstein, Katherine, Christine and Carolyn Wiedenhoft, and Anna and Emily LaMontagne.

Pat lived a life in which family was everything. She had a tremendous sense of humor marked by a sharp Irish wit. She was devoted to her faith, and found continual comfort and guidance from the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pat was a loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 25 from 4pm until 7pm at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26 at 10am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Albany, NY. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
