Donald V. Lloyd

Donald Vernon Lloyd, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday September 10, 2024. He was born in Cobleskill on August 4, 1948 to the late Harold W. and Grace Dutton Lloyd. He grew up on a dairy farm in Middleburgh, NY, and then was a longtime resident of Albany. After graduating from Middleburgh Central School, he attended SUNY Cobleskill. Don then worked for the Office of the NYS Comptroller, retiring after 36 years of state service. He also served as shop steward for more than 20 years for the Public Employees Federation. Don served in various offices for the State Comptroller’s Mixed Bowling League and the Audit and Control Golf League. He was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. He also collected and dealt in sports cards.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan V. Lloyd; daughters Patricia D. Lloyd of Albany and Deborah Lloyd McGarvey of East Rochester; son-in-law Thomas P. McGarvey; grandsons, Patrick Colin McGarvey and Aiden Lloyd McGarvey; brothers, Harold A. (Marion), David L. (Denise), and Richard W. Lloyd of Middleburgh; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday September 17th from 10 to 12pm at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave, Albany, followed by a funeral service at 12pm. He will then be privately cremated. A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 5th at 11am at the Albany Rural Cemetery, south gate entrance off of Route 378. Debra is an association for the research and care of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic skin disorder that was a lifelong struggle for Don.
